Blue Sea 20A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Red
Blue Sea 20A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Red
Magnetic Hydraulic Trip-Free Switch & Circuit Protection for Panels

DESCRIPTION
Integrated Magnetic Hydraulic Switching and Circuit Protection
The Blue Sea Systems A-Series 20A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker delivers industry-standard reliability for demanding marine, RV, and off-grid electrical installations. By combining a high-duty toggle switch and precision overcurrent protection into a single unified device, it streamlines distribution panel layouts and eliminates the need for separate fuse blocks and switches. Featuring a prominent red toggle actuator, this 20A breaker is ideal for clearly identifying critical or emergency circuits on your main switchboard.
Why Magnetic Hydraulic Technology Matters
Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the Blue Sea A-Series utilises a magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal breakers can suffer from derating and nuisance tripping when installed in hot engine bays, enclosed canopies, or sun-exposed dashboards. Magnetic hydraulic breakers respond solely to current variations within the circuit rather than ambient temperature. This ensures consistent, predictable trip curves and reliable 20A overcurrent protection regardless of how hot or cold the surrounding environment becomes.
Key Features and Technical Benefits
- Dual-Function Design: Combines manual circuit switching and overcurrent protection into one compact footprint, reducing wiring complexity and potential failure points.
- Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Engineered with an internal trip-free design that cannot be manually held in the ON position during a fault-current condition, protecting wiring and connected equipment from severe thermal damage.
- High-Visibility Red Toggle: Clearly marked with its 20A rating, the red lever allows operators to quickly locate and isolate essential circuits at a glance.
- Temperature-Stable Operation: Magnetic hydraulic actuation prevents nuisance tripping in high-temperature enclosures and ensures accurate trip delay curves.
- Seamless Panel Integration: Built with standardised threaded mounting inserts for straightforward front-panel installation in Blue Sea Systems electrical distribution panels and custom switchboards.
Built for Harsh Marine and Mobile Environments
Electrical systems in boats, 4WDs, caravans, and commercial vehicles are constantly subjected to vibration, moisture, and temperature extremes. Inferior protection devices can corrode or fail to trip accurately, putting expensive electronics and cable runs at risk. The A-Series breaker is specifically engineered to meet stringent marine and automotive standards, mitigating the risk of electrical fires and system downtime. Its robust construction and side specification label with detailed electrical ratings make professional installation and system auditing straightforward.
Applications
- Marine AC and DC main distribution panels
- Caravan, motorhome, and camper trailer 12V and 24V power systems
- 4WD canopy setups and auxiliary battery management boards
- Off-grid solar control cabinets and industrial mobile equipment
