Blue Sea 20A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Blue Sea 20A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Magnetic Hydraulic Switching & Trip-Free Protection with Brass Inserts

DESCRIPTION
Integrated Magnetic Hydraulic Switching and Overcurrent Protection
The Blue Sea Systems A-Series 20A Toggle Circuit Breaker (BS-7212B) delivers dual-function convenience by combining heavy-duty circuit switching and precise overcurrent protection into a single panel-mounted device. Engineered specifically for demanding marine, caravan, RV, and off-grid electrical architectures, this single-pole breaker eliminates the need to wire separate switches and fuse holders. By consolidating your electrical panel components, it reduces potential failure points, simplifies fault finding, and saves valuable dashboard or enclosure space.
Advanced Magnetic Hydraulic Technology
Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the Blue Sea A-Series utilises a magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal units can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, canopies, or enclosed electrical cabinets because high ambient temperatures lower their trip threshold. Because a magnetic hydraulic breaker responds only to actual current flow through its internal solenoid coil, its 20A trip rating remains stable and predictable across extreme temperature variations. This ensures your critical circuits stay online when operating in harsh Australian climates while still providing rapid disconnection during genuine overload or short-circuit events.
Trip-Free Safety Mechanism
Safety in high-amperage DC and AC distribution systems is paramount. This breaker is built with an internal trip-free design, meaning the internal contacts cannot be manually held closed while a fault current is present. Even if an operator attempts to hold the black toggle actuator in the ON position during an active short circuit or overload, the internal mechanism will override the lever and trip open. This critical safety feature mitigates the risk of melted wiring insulation, damaged electronics, and electrical fires.
- Dual-Function Design: Combines manual ON/OFF circuit switching with reliable 20A overcurrent protection in one compact unit.
- Magnetic Hydraulic Operation: Unaffected by ambient temperature fluctuations, preventing nuisance tripping in hot environments.
- Trip-Free Mechanism: Internal contacts disconnect during a fault condition even if the toggle actuator is physically held in the ON position.
- Secure Panel Mounting: Features integrated brass threaded inserts on the front face for straightforward, vibration-resistant panel installation.
- Clear Visual Status: Contrasting black toggle switch includes clear ON and OFF markings for immediate circuit status identification.
- Robust Terminations: Equipped with heavy-duty rear screw terminals to ensure secure, low-resistance wire connections.
Engineered for Harsh Mobile and Marine Environments
Electrical components installed in 4WDs, boats, and off-grid trailers are constantly subjected to vibration, moisture, and mechanical stress. The Blue Sea A-Series is constructed to meet rigorous industry standards, featuring a side-mounted technical specification label displaying compliance certifications and electrical ratings for easy inspection. The front-mounting brass threaded inserts allow for secure fastening into custom switch panels or pre-manufactured distribution boards, while the rear screw terminals provide dependable clamping force for ring or fork lugs.
Ideal Applications
Whether you are building a custom electrical distribution board from scratch or upgrading an existing setup, this 20A single-pole toggle breaker is suited to a wide variety of applications:
- Marine switchboards, bilge pump circuits, and navigation electronics
- Caravan, camper trailer, and motorhome power distribution panels
- 4WD dual battery systems and canopy accessory control
- Off-grid solar and auxiliary power control cabinets
- Specialised industrial and mobile service vehicle fit-outs
Upgrade Your Electrical Panel Protection
Ensure your wiring and connected appliances are safeguarded against electrical faults without compromising on panel space. Add the Blue Sea A-Series 20A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker to your build for dependable, temperature-stable circuit control and protection.
