8-circuit 20A terminal block with nickel-plated screws and black isolation barriers

Blue Sea 20A 8 Circuit Terminal Block

DESCRIPTION

Reliable 8-Way Power Distribution for Marine, Automotive, and Industrial Systems

Managing multiple electrical connections in cramped enclosures or vibrating environments requires a dependable termination point. This 8-circuit terminal block provides a clean, organised, and secure method for distributing power or consolidating ground wires across complex wiring looms. Engineered for a continuous rating of 20A per circuit and handling up to 300V AC/DC, it serves as an adaptable solution for low-voltage 12V, 24V, and 48V DC automotive or marine setups, as well as higher-voltage industrial control panels.

Engineered for Safety and Electrical Isolation

When installing electrical components onto metal chassis, aluminium canopies, or conductive bulkheads, preventing accidental short circuits is critical. This terminal block features a fully closed-back design that completely insulates live conductors from the mounting surface, removing the need for secondary insulating backing plates. Furthermore, high moulded isolation barriers separate each M3.5 screw pair, preventing frayed wire strands or slipping ring terminals from bridging adjacent circuits.

The base is injection-moulded from UL 94 V0 rated polycarbonate, offering high impact resistance and flame-retardant properties to reduce fire risks in the event of an upstream electrical fault. Unlike lower-grade alternatives that can warp under thermal load or crack during installation, this heavy-duty base maintains its structural integrity across demanding operating conditions.

Key Features and Construction Benefits

  • Complete Surface Insulation: Closed-back architecture isolates the conductive bus from metal panels, vehicle chassis, and marine hulls.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Conductors: Nickel-plated brass busbars combined with stainless steel terminal screws resist oxidation in humid, coastal, and marine environments.
  • 8 Independent Circuits: Each screw pair acts as a fully isolated circuit for independent signal or power routing.
  • Configurable Common Bus: Compatible with optional jumper links to easily bridge adjacent poles and create common positive or negative distribution points.
  • High Isolation Barriers: Deep physical dividers between terminals minimise the risk of accidental shorting during maintenance or high-vibration travel.

Built for Harsh Australian Environments

Standard brass or steel terminals quickly corrode when exposed to salt air, condensation, or extreme temperature fluctuations, leading to high-resistance connections and voltage drop. By utilising nickel-plated brass for the conductive bus and stainless steel for the M3.5 fasteners, this terminal block maintains optimal conductivity and mechanical grip over time. It accepts #6 (M3) ring or spade terminals and mounts securely via integrated end holes using #6 (M3.5) fasteners.

Versatile Applications Across AC and DC Setups

Whether you are wiring a custom 4WD canopy, upgrading a caravan 12V distribution board, or assembling a commercial switchboard, this 8-way barrier strip simplifies installation and fault-finding. It is ideally suited for:

  • Caravan, camper trailer, and motorhome 12V/24V accessory wiring
  • Marine helm panels, bilge systems, and navigation electronics
  • 4WD dual battery systems and canopy control boxes
  • Industrial machinery, HVAC controls, and 240V AC relay cabinets
  • Off-grid solar telemetry and low-current sensor consolidation

Streamline Your Wiring Installation

Upgrade your electrical layout with a professional, serviceable termination point. Add the 20A 8-circuit terminal block to your build today to achieve clean, reliable, and well-isolated wiring connections across your entire system.
