Analogue 24V System Gauge - 4-Wire Connection - 12V/24V Backlight

DESCRIPTION
Precision 24V Battery System Monitoring for Marine and Off-Grid Setups
Expanded Analogue Scale for Accurate Voltage Tracking
Monitoring the state of charge and charging health of a 24V battery bank requires more than a broad-spectrum gauge. Standard 0V to 32V gauges compress the critical operating window of a 24V system into a tiny fraction of the dial, making it difficult to spot subtle voltage drops or overcharging conditions. The Blue Sea Systems 18-32V DC Voltmeter addresses this issue by utilising an expanded analogue scale focused entirely on the 18V to 32V range. This dedicated resolution allows system operators, marine skippers, and off-grid enthusiasts to read fractional voltage changes at a glance, directly reducing the risk of premature battery degradation from chronic undercharging or deep discharging.
Designed with a classic square bezel and a high-contrast white dial, this analogue gauge provides immediate, responsive feedback via a precision needle. Unlike digital displays that can suffer from screen glare in bright sunlight or lag during rapid voltage fluctuations, this mechanical movement delivers real-time tracking of your electrical system's performance. A front-accessible mechanical zero adjustment screw is integrated into the housing, allowing for straightforward calibration if required over the lifespan of the installation.
Streamlined 4-Wire Installation and Flexible Backlighting
Installing panel instrumentation can often become complicated when external shunts and complex wiring looms are involved. This DC voltmeter simplifies the fit-out process by incorporating an internal shunt, requiring only a straightforward 4-wire connection to get up and running. Two wires handle the direct voltage sensing from the 24V source, while the remaining two wires manage the meter's illumination.
A major advantage of this unit is its independent backlight circuit. The meter face features dedicated terminal connections that accept either 12V DC or 24V DC power for illumination, entirely separate from the 18V to 32V sensing circuit. This is particularly beneficial in marine vessels, heavy transport trucks, and custom 4WD or caravan builds where the primary propulsion or house battery bank operates at 24V, but the dash illumination and helm lighting circuits are stepped down to 12V. The backlit face ensures clear visibility during night navigation or in dimly lit engine rooms and power canopies without tying you to a single lighting voltage.
Key Features and System Benefits
- Expanded 18V to 32V Scale: Tailored specifically for 24V nominal battery banks, providing high visibility across resting, discharging, and charging voltage thresholds.
- Dual-Voltage Backlight Circuit: Separate connections allow the backlight to be powered by either a 12V DC or 24V DC dash lighting circuit independently of the monitored battery bank.
- Built-In Internal Shunt: Eliminates the need to source, mount, and wire external shunts, saving valuable space behind the dash or switchboard.
- High-Contrast Analogue Display: White meter face with crisp black markings and a responsive needle ensures effortless readability in both low-light and bright environments.
- Simple 4-Wire Hook-up: Reduces installation time and minimises potential wiring faults behind the control panel.
Ideal Applications
Built to the high standards expected of Blue Sea Systems, this voltmeter is engineered to withstand the rigours of mobile and stationary power environments. It is an excellent fit for:
- 24V marine electrical panels on yachts, cruisers, and commercial vessels
- Heavy-duty trucks, buses, and plant machinery operating on 24V architecture
- Off-grid solar and hybrid battery enclosures requiring reliable local visual monitoring
- Custom 24V caravan, motorhome, and expedition vehicle electrical systems
