Blue Sea 15A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black

DESCRIPTION

Integrated Magnetic-Hydraulic Circuit Protection and Switching

The Blue Sea A-Series 15A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker delivers dependable electrical protection and manual switching in a single, compact panel-mount unit. Engineered as the industry standard for Blue Sea Systems electrical panels, this device eliminates the need to wire separate switches and fuse blocks, simplifying installation and conserving valuable dashboard space in marine, RV, and off-grid power architectures.

Why Choose a Magnetic-Hydraulic Circuit Breaker?

Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on a heat-sensitive bimetallic strip to trigger a disconnect, a magnetic-hydraulic circuit breaker operates using a solenoid coil and a fluid-damped mechanical core. This precision mechanism responds solely to electrical current flow rather than ambient temperature fluctuations.

In high-heat environments such as boat engine rooms, enclosed caravan battery compartments, or vehicle canopies under the Australian sun, standard thermal breakers can suffer from premature nuisance tripping. Conversely, in freezing conditions, they may delay tripping during an actual overload. The Blue Sea A-Series maintains its exact 15A trip profile regardless of ambient environmental temperatures, providing consistent and predictable overcurrent protection.

Trip-Free Safety Mechanism and Global Compliance

Safety is central to the A-Series design. This unit incorporates a trip-free mechanism, meaning the internal contacts cannot be manually held closed while a fault current is present. Even if the toggle actuator is physically held or jammed in the ON position during a short circuit or severe overload, the internal mechanism will disengage to isolate the downstream wiring, significantly reducing the risk of cable overheating and electrical fires.

  • Dual-Function Design: Combines manual circuit switching and 15A overcurrent protection into one compact footprint.
  • Magnetic-Hydraulic Operation: Delivers temperature-stable trip performance without nuisance tripping in hot enclosures.
  • Trip-Free Mechanism: Ensures internal contacts open during fault conditions, even if the toggle is held in the ON position.
  • Durable Panel Hardware: Features threaded brass mounting inserts for secure front-panel installation and sturdy rear screw terminals for reliable wire termination.
  • High-Visibility Actuator: Black single-pole toggle includes clear 'OFF' and '15A' markings for immediate visual status confirmation.
  • Extensive Regulatory Credentials: Meets ABYC standards, is UL 1077 recognised, TUV certified, CE marked for Europe, and CSA certified for Canada.

Engineered for Harsh Marine and Mobile Environments

Constructed with corrosion-resistant materials, including recessed brass mounting inserts and robust rear screw terminals, the BS-7208B is built to withstand vibration and moisture in demanding applications. It is suited for protecting 15A branch circuits such as navigation electronics, cabin lighting arrays, bilge pumps, communication equipment, and 12V or 24V auxiliary appliances.

Whether you are building a custom marine switch panel, upgrading a 4WD dual-battery canopy setup, or fitting out an off-grid camper trailer, this breaker provides professional-grade circuit management.
