Blue Sea C-Series 150A double-pole circuit breaker with linked white toggles and rear stud terminals

Blue Sea 150A C-Series Double-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

Integrated High-Amperage Switching and Overcurrent Protection

Managing high-current loads in demanding marine, RV, and off-grid electrical systems requires components engineered for precision and endurance. The Blue Sea C-Series 150A Double-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker (BS-7267B) combines manual circuit switching and automatic overcurrent protection into a single, compact device. By consolidating the functions of a heavy-duty battery switch and a main fuse, this circuit breaker simplifies panel design, reduces wiring connections, and minimises potential points of failure in your electrical system.

Why Magnetic Hydraulic Technology Matters

Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the C-Series utilises an advanced magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Standard thermal breakers can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, canopies, or enclosures because high ambient temperatures lower their trip threshold. Conversely, in freezing conditions, they may delay tripping during a fault.

A magnetic hydraulic circuit breaker senses only the actual electrical current flowing through the coil, remaining completely unaffected by ambient temperature fluctuations. This ensures consistent, predictable protection at its rated 150A capacity whether installed in a hot Australian 4WD canopy, a marine engine room, or an off-grid solar cabinet.

Key Features and Design Benefits

  • Simultaneous Double-Pole Switching: Features mechanically linked white toggles that trip and switch both poles together. If an overcurrent fault occurs on one pole, both poles disconnect immediately, making it suitable for isolating both positive and negative DC lines or multi-wire AC shore power and generator circuits.
  • Trip-Free Mechanism: Engineered with an internal trip-free design, meaning the contacts cannot be manually held closed during an active overcurrent fault. This critical safety feature prevents catastrophic wire damage and reduces fire risks if an operator attempts to force the circuit on before clearing a short circuit.
  • Magnetic Hydraulic Operation: Delivers precise, temperature-independent trip curves that eliminate nuisance tripping in high-heat environments while providing immediate response to severe short circuits.
  • Heavy-Duty Rear Stud Terminals: Equipped with robust threaded stud terminals on the rear housing to secure large-gauge lugs, ensuring low-resistance connections capable of handling continuous high-current loads.
  • Panel-Mount Ready: Incorporates threaded brass inserts on the front face for secure, vibration-resistant installation into custom switch panels and power distribution boards, complete with a clearly marked 150A amperage rating on the toggle handle.

Applications in Marine, RV, and Off-Grid Power

The double-pole configuration of the BS-7267B offers exceptional versatility for system builders and auto electricians. In DC applications, it can be wired to break both the positive and negative conductors simultaneously for complete circuit isolation, which is often required in specialised marine and commercial survey vessels. Alternatively, it serves as an dependable main breaker for heavy-duty inverters, windlasses, bow thrusters, and high-output charging systems where reliable manual isolation is needed alongside overcurrent safety.

Upgrade Your Circuit Protection

Ensure your high-current electrical architecture is protected against overloads and short circuits without compromising on operational convenience. Integrate this 150A magnetic hydraulic breaker into your power distribution panel today for dependable, professional-grade circuit management.
