Blue Sea 12V 65A m-LVD Low Voltage Disconnect
Blue Sea 12V 65A m-LVD Low Voltage Disconnect
IP67 Waterproof Battery Saver with Remote Switch & Adjustable Cut-Off

DESCRIPTION
Automated 12V Battery Protection for Marine and Automotive Systems
Managing auxiliary loads in mobile, marine, and off-grid electrical setups is critical to avoiding unexpected power loss and irreversible battery damage. The Blue Sea 12V 65A m-LVD Low Voltage Disconnect provides automated protection for your 12V DC battery bank. By continuously monitoring voltage levels, this solid-state unit automatically isolates non-essential devices when battery voltage drops below a safe threshold. This preserves vital cranking capacity for engine starting and extends the overall lifespan of your deep-cycle or starting batteries.
Intelligent Monitoring and Remote Control Integration
Unlike standard voltage-sensitive relays that offer little user feedback, the m-LVD features a comprehensive warning and control architecture. Integrated status LEDs on both the main disconnect body and the included Remote Control Switch provide a clear visual alert prior to load shedding, giving operators time to react before electronics power down.
The included remote switch mounts neatly into standard dashboards or switch panels, providing versatile operational control:
- Adjustable Disconnect Voltage: Tailor the voltage cut-off threshold directly from the switch to suit specific battery chemistries and operational requirements.
- 10-Minute Override Delay: Temporarily delay the impending circuit disconnection for 10 minutes to finish critical tasks, such as radio transmissions or navigation updates.
- Manual Circuit Shut-Off: Manually place the circuit into an OFF state to conserve battery power until charging resumes and system voltage rises.
- Audible Alarm Support: Includes a dedicated alarm output pin to trigger an audible warning prior to disconnection. Using the Override or OFF functions on the remote switch will also silence the alarm (note: an optional external alarm is required for audible alerts).
Engineered for Harsh Environments
Standard electrical switches often fail when exposed to moisture, vibration, and corrosive salt air. Designed specifically for demanding marine, 4WD, and commercial vehicle environments, the m-LVD features a rugged, IP67-rated enclosure capable of withstanding temporary water immersion. The unit is also ignition protected, making it safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats where explosive fumes may be present.
To prevent accidental short circuits in tight wiring bays, a protective rear insulating cover shields the conductive contacts. The versatile case design supports surface, front-panel, or rear-panel mounting, allowing seamless integration into custom distribution panels, boat consoles, or canopy dual-battery setups.
Key Features and Specifications
- High Current Capacity: Supports a 65A continuous current rating and handles intermittent surges up to 115A for 5 minutes.
- Heavy-Duty Connections: Equipped with 1/4"-20 (Approx. M6) terminal studs capable of accepting heavy cable lugs up to 1/0 AWG (approx. 50mm2).
- Low Parasitic Draw: Consumes just 95mA when connected and drops to an ultra-low 4mA in the open state to prevent further drain on depleted batteries.
- Waterproof Construction: IP67 rated for temporary immersion in harsh marine and off-road applications.
- Complete Kit: Supplied with the main m-LVD unit and the Contura-style Remote Control Switch.
