Blue Sea 500A ML-Series solenoid battery isolator with 22mm copper studs and remote rocker switch

Blue Sea 12V 500A ML Series Solenoid Battery Isolator

DESCRIPTION

High-Capacity 12V Battery Switching with Zero Standby Draw

Managing high-amperage DC systems in marine, caravan, and commercial vehicle environments requires reliable, heavy-duty isolation. The Blue Sea ML Series Solenoid Battery Isolator is engineered to handle demanding 500A continuous loads, making it ideal for isolating engine cranking batteries, high-output inverters, and substantial house battery banks. It also serves as a dependable solution for emergency battery combining when starting power is depleted.

Unlike conventional solenoids that require a constant electrical current to remain engaged, this unit utilises advanced magnetic latching (bi-stable) technology. It draws zero current while holding in the ON or OFF state, only consuming power during the brief moment the state is changed. This eliminates parasitic battery drain, preserving valuable storage capacity during extended off-grid stays or periods when the vessel or vehicle is in storage.

Engineered for Harsh Marine and Off-Grid Environments

Standard isolators often suffer from voltage drop, overheating, and premature contact wear when subjected to high inrush currents from large inverters or winches. The Blue Sea 7701B addresses these risks by incorporating internal silver alloy contacts, which provide superior reliability and arc resistance when switching live loads under heavy demand.

External connections are secured via heavy-duty 3/8"-16 (Approx. M10) tin-plated copper studs. The tin plating provides vital corrosion resistance in salt-air and humid environments, while the copper core ensures maximum conductivity and minimal heat generation. With a generous 7/8" (22mm) stud length, installers can easily land multiple heavy-gauge cable lugs on a single terminal without compromising thread engagement.

Key Features and Benefits

  • 500A Continuous Rating: Easily manages high-demand 12V DC circuits, including large inverters, bow thrusters, and starter motors.
  • Magnetic Latching Mechanism: Bi-stable design draws no current in the ON or OFF position, preventing unwanted battery discharge.
  • Silver Alloy Contacts: Delivers exceptional durability and safe switching of live loads without contact welding.
  • Tin-Plated Copper Studs: 3/8"-16 (Approx. M10) terminals resist marine corrosion and offer 7/8" (22mm) of length to accommodate multiple heavy-duty cable terminals.
  • Integrated Control Harness: Equipped with wiring for remote operation and status LED feedback to monitor system state from a cabin or helm.
  • Circuit Identification: Features a recessed area for clean labelling, ensuring clear organisation within complex electrical distribution panels.

Installation and System Integration

Designed for seamless integration into professional 12V DC electrical architectures, this remote battery switch allows you to mount the heavy solenoid close to the battery bank, keeping heavy-gauge cable runs as short as possible to reduce voltage drop and installation costs. You can then control the isolator remotely from a convenient dashboard or control panel location.

Please note: The ML-Series Remote Control Contura Switch required for remote actuation is not included with this unit and is available separately.

Upgrade your 12V power distribution system with the Blue Sea ML Series 500A Solenoid Isolator for safe, zero-drain control over your critical battery banks and heavy DC loads.
