Blue Sea Panel Backlight System circuit board with LEDs and pre-installed power leads

Blue Sea 12V/24V 8/5/3 Position Backlight System

DESCRIPTION

Blue Sea Systems Circuit Breaker Panel Backlight System for 12V and 24V DC Setups

Reliable LED Label Illumination for Marine, Caravan, and Off-Grid Electrical Panels

Operating a vessel, caravan, or off-grid power system in low-light conditions requires clear visibility of your electrical controls. The Blue Sea Systems 8065 Backlight System is engineered to provide consistent, low-glare illumination for compatible 3, 5, and 8-position circuit breaker panels. While the model designation references 12V, this versatile module is fully compatible with both 12V and 24V DC electrical systems, making it an adaptable spare part or upgrade for a wide range of mobile, commercial, and marine applications.

Please note: Standard Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker panels generally include backlighting out of the box. This unit is specifically designed as a genuine OEM replacement part for damaged components or for custom retrofit applications where label illumination is required.

Engineered for Electrical Safety and Longevity

Unlike standard aftermarket lighting strips that can suffer from voltage spikes, flickering, or premature burnout in harsh environments, this genuine Blue Sea Systems circuit board is purpose-built for demanding DC power systems. It features an integrated voltage regulator and dedicated control resistors that manage a stable output, ensuring long-term LED longevity even during charging cycles when system voltages fluctuate.

To reduce installation risks during maintenance or fit-outs, the board incorporates built-in reverse polarity protection. This safeguards the internal circuitry against accidental miswiring in tight, poorly lit helm stations or caravan electrical cabinets.

  • Dual Voltage Compatibility: Operates seamlessly across both 12V and 24V DC power sources without requiring external voltage droppers.
  • Integrated Circuit Protection: Built-in reverse polarity protection and onboard voltage regulation prevent damage from wiring errors and voltage fluctuations.
  • Pre-Wired for Simple Installation: Supplied with two 6" (approx. 152.4mm) 18 AWG (approx. 0.82mm2) wire leads for straightforward integration into your existing DC bus or dimming circuit.
  • Precision Fitment: Engineered with exact mounting cutouts to align securely within compatible 3-position, 5-position, and 8-position Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker enclosures.
  • High-Efficiency LEDs: Provides uniform, clear illumination across panel labels with minimal parasitic current draw on your house battery bank.

Applications and Installation

Whether you are refurbishing an older marine switchboard, repairing a damaged panel in a 4WD canopy, or completing a custom off-grid electrical enclosure, using OEM-grade components ensures system integrity. The precision notches on the circuit board allow it to seat directly behind the panel labels, illuminating the text clearly without causing night-blindness at the helm or in the cabin.

Restore Your Panel Visibility

Ensure safe, accurate circuit identification in dark conditions with genuine Blue Sea Systems components. Add the 8065 Backlight System to your toolkit or electrical refit project today for dependable 12V and 24V switchboard illumination.
