DESCRIPTION
Reliable AC Power Management for Marine and Off-Grid Installations
Managing multiple alternating current power inputs requires dependable, safe switching hardware to protect sensitive onboard electronics and electrical appliances. The Blue Sea Systems 6337B is an industrial-grade AC rotary source selector switch engineered to simplify complex power distribution. Designed specifically for systems utilising dual 120V AC shore power inputs or a single 240V AC source, this unit seamlessly routes power to serve two distinct 120V AC load groups. By consolidating source selection into a single, intuitive panel-mounted control, it eliminates the hazards of manual rewiring and prevents accidental back-feeding between incompatible power supplies such as shore power pedestals and onboard generators.
Safe Dual-Conductor Switching Architecture
Unlike standard single-pole switches that only interrupt the active line, this heavy-duty marine AC selector switch simultaneously switches both the hot (active) and neutral conductors. In marine, RV, and specialised off-grid environments, isolating the neutral conductor alongside the active conductor is critical for preventing stray current corrosion, ground loops, and reverse polarity issues across different power sources. With a continuous rating of 30A, the internal contact architecture ensures minimal voltage drop and secure load transfer.
- Dual-Conductor Isolation: Simultaneously switches both hot and neutral lines to maintain complete electrical isolation between sources.
- Complex Source Routing: Connects two 120V AC shore power sources or one 240V AC source to two independent 120V AC load groups.
- Ergonomic One-Hand Operation: Features a contoured rotary handle and a clearly labelled faceplate (Shore, Off, Generator) for effortless, mistake-free transitions.
- Recessed Terminal Block: Modular, stackable blue enclosure houses recessed screw terminals to prevent accidental contact and ensure high-vibration wire retention.
- Versatile Panel Mounting: Engineered for straightforward rear-panel installation into switchboards and bulkheads up to 0.16" (approx. 4.00mm) thick.
- Certified Compliance: Fully UL listed for verified electrical safety and peace of mind in demanding commercial and recreational fit-outs.
Engineered for Demanding Switchboard Environments
Built to withstand the rigours of mobile and marine environments, the switch features a robust, modular terminal block housing that protects internal contacts from dust and accidental shorting during installation or maintenance. The recessed connection terminals securely clamp heavy-gauge AC wiring, reducing the risk of loose connections caused by hull impacts or road vibrations. The high-contrast black faceplate provides immediate visual confirmation of the active power source, allowing operators to transition safely through the central "Off" position before engaging an alternate supply.
Important Installation Considerations
This rotary switch is designed purely as an isolation and source-transfer mechanism. Please note that overcurrent circuit protection is not integrated into this unit and must be provided elsewhere within your AC distribution panel using appropriately rated circuit breakers or fuses. While ideal for international vessels, imported fifth-wheel RVs, and specialised industrial split-phase setups operating on 120V/240V AC configurations, installers should verify compatibility with local Australian 230V/240V single-phase wiring standards prior to installation.
