Blue Sea 12-24VDC 13-Position Backlight System for Circuit Breaker Panels
Blue Sea 12-24VDC 13-Position Backlight System for Circuit Breaker Panels
Pre-Wired 18 AWG Leads & Built-In Reverse-Polarity Protection
DESCRIPTION
Reliable Low-Light Illumination for Marine and Off-Grid Electrical Panels
Operating a vessel, caravan, or specialized service vehicle in low-light conditions requires clear, unobstructed visibility of your primary electrical controls. The Blue Sea Systems 13-Position Backlight System provides crisp, uniform label illumination across your circuit breaker panel, allowing you to quickly identify and actuate critical circuits in complete darkness. Designed as a direct OEM replacement or panel upgrade component, this solid-state LED circuit board eliminates the guesswork and eye strain associated with unlit switchboards during night navigation or off-grid camping.
Engineered for 12V and 24V DC Electrical Systems
Constructed on a segmented, modular printed circuit board (PCB), this backlighting unit is engineered to integrate seamlessly behind compatible Blue Sea Systems traditional metal and water-resistant circuit breaker panels. The integrated central voltage regulator allows the board to accept both 12V and 24V DC power sources directly, without requiring external voltage drop resistors or complex step-down converters. Surface-mounted LEDs and precision in-line circuit resistors ensure balanced current management across the entire board, delivering consistent brightness across all 13 breaker positions while maintaining an exceptionally low parasitic current draw on your house or starter batteries.
Key Features and Technical Benefits
- 13-Position Illumination: Surface-mounted LEDs provide clear, even backlighting across 13 individual circuit breaker label positions.
- Dual-Voltage Compatibility: Operates reliably across 12V DC and 24V DC electrical architectures via an onboard voltage regulation circuit.
- Reverse-Polarity Protection: Built-in diode protection safeguards the sensitive LED components against accidental reverse-wiring during installation.
- Pre-Wired Leads: Supplied with two 6-inch (approx. 152mm), 18 AWG (approx. 0.82mm2) wire leads for straightforward integration into your panel's negative bus and positive switch feed.
- Solid-State Durability: Vibration-resistant PCB construction outlasts traditional incandescent grain-of-wheat bulbs in harsh marine and mobile environments.
Risk Reduction and Installation Advantages
Upgrading or maintaining a marine switchboard with purpose-built OEM components significantly reduces the risk of electrical faults behind the dash. Standard aftermarket LED strips often suffer from adhesive failure in high-heat cabin environments, uneven light hotspots, and vulnerability to voltage spikes. Because this unit features built-in reverse-polarity protection, installers are protected against accidental component damage if supply leads are inadvertently crossed during tight, behind-the-helm wiring jobs.
Please note that this backlighting system comes pre-installed as standard equipment on most new Blue Sea Systems circuit breaker panels. A separate purchase is only required if you are replacing a damaged board, refurbishing an older legacy panel, or building a custom enclosure utilising Blue Sea modular components.
Upgrade Your Switchboard Visibility
Ensure safe, confident operation of your 12V or 24V DC power distribution system at any hour. Add the Blue Sea Systems 13-Position Backlight System to your toolkit today for a professional, factory-standard panel restoration.
