Blue Sea 10A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Blue Sea 10A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Magnetic-Hydraulic AC Main Switch & Protection - Trip-Free ABYC Design

DESCRIPTION
Magnetic-Hydraulic Protection for AC Main Circuits
The Blue Sea Systems A-Series Double Pole Circuit Breaker integrates both manual circuit switching and precise overcurrent protection into a single, compact device. Designed primarily for AC main circuit protection in marine, RV, and off-grid electrical panels, this double-pole toggle breaker simultaneously disconnects both the active (hot) and neutral conductors when tripped or switched off. This dual-pole isolation is critical in mobile and marine AC electrical systems where reverse polarity from shore power or generator connections can pose significant safety hazards.
Advanced Magnetic-Hydraulic Technology
Unlike standard thermal breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the A-Series utilises a magnetic-hydraulic trip mechanism. This design ensures that the trip threshold remains stable regardless of ambient temperature fluctuations. In high-temperature environments such as boat engine rooms, enclosed caravan electrical cabinets, or sun-exposed switchboards, conventional thermal breakers can experience nuisance tripping or derating. A magnetic-hydraulic circuit breaker senses only the actual current flowing through the coil, providing consistent, reliable overcurrent protection while accommodating normal temporary inrush currents from AC appliances.
Engineered for Safety and Compliance
Safety in high-vibration and moisture-prone environments requires components that resist mechanical failure and operator error. The Blue Sea A-Series features an internal trip-free design, meaning the contacts cannot be manually held in the closed (ON) position while a fault current condition persists. Even if the ergonomic toggle actuator is physically restrained, the internal mechanism will trip independently to protect downstream wiring and equipment from thermal damage or fire risks.
- Simultaneous Double-Pole Switching: Breaks both active and neutral poles at once, making it the industry standard for 120V AC and 240V AC main shore power and inverter distribution panels.
- Trip-Free Mechanism: Internal contacts disconnect during an overload or short circuit even if the toggle switch is held in the ON position.
- Temperature-Stable Performance: Magnetic-hydraulic operation avoids false tripping in hot enclosures and maintains accurate trip curves across varied Australian climates.
- Robust Panel Integration: Equipped with durable brass threaded mounting inserts and secure screw terminals for reliable mechanical fastening and low-resistance wire terminations.
- Global Marine & Industrial Certifications: Meets American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards, and holds UL 1077 recognition, TUV certification, CE marking, and CSA certification.
Ideal Applications for Double Pole Breakers
Combining switching and circuit protection eliminates the need for separate AC isolation switches and fuse holders, saving valuable space on custom dash panels and main switchboards. This breaker is suited for:
- Marine shore power inlets, onboard marine generators, and AC main distribution switchboards
- Caravan, motorhome, and camper trailer 240V AC inverter-charger and mains hook-up panels
- Off-grid mobile work vehicles and specialist industrial control cabinets requiring dual-conductor isolation
