Blue Sea 0-50A AC Ammeter with Coil
Blue Sea 0-50A AC Ammeter with Coil
Blue Sea Systems Analogue Panel Meter with 2-Wire Inductive Sensing

DESCRIPTION
Reliable AC Current Monitoring for Marine, Off-Grid, and Industrial Systems
Managing alternating current loads safely and effectively requires dependable instrumentation. The Blue Sea Systems AC Ammeter provides accurate, real-time monitoring of electrical draw up to 50A AC, allowing system operators to track power consumption from inverters, shore power connections, and AC generators with confidence. Engineered for longevity and clarity, this analogue panel meter is an essential addition to custom switchboards, marine electrical distribution panels, and off-grid power setups.
Non-Invasive Sensing and Self-Powered Operation
Unlike traditional inline shunts that require cutting into heavy-gauge AC wiring and creating high-current termination points behind your dashboard, this unit utilises an included AC current transformer (sensing coil). By simply slipping the coil over the primary AC conductor being measured, the meter inductively senses the electrical flow. Furthermore, the gauge powers itself directly from the induction coil via a simple 2-wire connection, eliminating the need to run separate power supply leads to operate the display.
- Simple 2-Wire Connection: Connects directly to the included AC current transformer without requiring an external power source.
- High-Visibility Analogue Scale: Features a clear 0 to 50A scale with incremental markings and a bold indicator needle for immediate visual checks.
- Non-Invasive Installation: Inductive sensing coil slips over existing AC wiring, keeping high-amperage conductors safely routed away from the control panel.
- Front-Panel Calibration: Equipped with an accessible mechanical zero-adjustment screw to ensure ongoing measurement precision.
- Broad Voltage Compatibility: Suitable for monitoring standard 120V, 240V, and up to 480V AC electrical systems.
Why Choose an Inductive Analogue Meter?
Standard direct-connect ammeters introduce extra connection points into high-load circuits, which can become points of resistance or heat buildup over time. By isolating the meter from the direct AC load via a current transformer, you significantly reduce installation complexity and enhance electrical safety. Compared to unbranded alternatives, Blue Sea Systems instrumentation is built to withstand harsh environments, resisting vibration and moisture in demanding marine and mobile applications.
The traditional analogue face offers instant readability at a glance, free from the glare or startup lag sometimes associated with digital screens. Designed for straightforward integration into custom panels or existing dashboards, the unit requires a standard 1-7/8 in (approx. 47.60mm) mounting hole and features a clean 2-5/8 in (approx. 66.70mm) face width.
Ideal Applications
- Marine Vessels: Monitor shore power intake or onboard AC generator output to prevent breaker trips when running air conditioning or water heaters.
- Caravans, RVs, and Motorhomes: Keep track of high-draw appliances operating off your inverter or mains hookup.
- Off-Grid Cabins and Remote Sheds: Observe load demands on standalone solar inverter systems and backup generators.
- Industrial Equipment: Integrate into custom machinery control boxes for continuous current verification.
Upgrade Your Electrical Panel
