Blue Sea 0–200A DC Ammeter with Shunt
Blue Sea 0–200A DC Ammeter with Shunt
Backlit Analog Gauge with 4-Wire Connection & 12V/24V Support

DESCRIPTION
Reliable Analog DC Current Monitoring for Marine, RV, and Off-Grid Systems
Maintaining accurate visibility over your electrical consumption is critical when managing auxiliary battery banks. This heavy-duty 0 to 200A DC ammeter provides continuous, real-time analog tracking of high-output alternators, inverters, and heavy DC loads. Designed by Blue Sea Systems for demanding marine, caravan, and off-grid environments, it allows you to instantly assess system draw and charging performance at a glance, helping to prevent unexpected battery depletion and equipment overload.
Safer Installation with External Shunt Technology
Traditional direct-connect ammeters require routing thick, high-amperage battery cables directly behind your dashboard or control panel. This creates significant installation challenges, increases the risk of voltage drop over long cable runs, and introduces potential fire hazards into confined console spaces. By utilising the included external DC current shunt, heavy cabling remains safely near the battery bank or main busbar. The gauge itself connects via a streamlined 4-wire sensing harness, simplifying routing through bulkheads while maintaining precise measurement integrity.
To further streamline your wiring architecture, the meter senses current and draws its operational power directly from the shunt connection. This reduces wiring complexity and speeds up installation time for both professional marine electricians and DIY system builders.
Engineered for Clarity and Harsh Environments
Unlike digital displays that can suffer from screen glare or viewing angle limitations, this classic analog dial offers immediate visual feedback. For night navigation or dimly lit battery compartments, the integrated backlit meter face features dedicated connections compatible with both 12V and 24V DC electrical systems. The front bezel also incorporates a manual zero-adjustment screw, allowing for straightforward needle calibration over time to maintain reading accuracy despite vehicle vibration or vessel pitching.
Key Features
- 0 to 200A DC measurement scale: Ideal for monitoring high-draw appliances, winches, inverters, and high-output charging sources.
- External DC shunt included: Eliminates the need to run heavy-gauge battery cables behind the instrument dash.
- Streamlined 4-wire connection: The meter both senses current and draws its operating power directly from the shunt.
- Dual-voltage backlighting: Separate terminal connections support 12V DC or 24V DC dash lighting circuits for clear low-light visibility.
- Front-access calibration: Features an accessible zero-adjustment screw on the face for easy manual needle alignment.
- Secure panel mounting: Robust front-mount bezel design ensures a firm, vibration-resistant fit into standard electrical switch panels.
Applications
Built to strict marine-grade standards, this analog current gauge outperforms unbranded alternatives that often suffer from pointer sticking, calibration drift, or premature shunt corrosion. It is a dependable choice for:
- Marine switchboards and boat helm instrument clusters
- Caravan, motorhome, and 4WD dual-battery control panels
- Off-grid solar power sheds and remote battery enclosures
- Industrial DC power distribution and mobile service vehicles
