What is ETFE
ETFE (Ethylene-Tetra-Fluoro-Ethylene) is a high-strength fluorine polymer that is corrosion and stain resistant, non-stick self cleaning, and retains its clarity (and therefore light transmittance) ensuring long service life for solar panels.
It will not discolour or degrade from exposure to environmental pollution, UV light, harsh chemicals or extreme temperature variations. The surface is textured for extra robustness.

There are multiple advantages to utilising this superior technology on flexible solar panels for caravans, marine and industrial applications.
These panels also have a textured surface for extra robustness.
Benefits of ETFE
Stain resistance and easy to clean:
Sunlight reaching the solar cells is obviously a key component of efficiency. Due to the non-adhesive surface properties of the ETFE, these panels are less likely to hold pollutants which can block the sun as deposits of dirt, dust, and debris do not stick and are washed away by the rain resulting in a “self-cleaning” effect.
The film is durable, highly transparent and very lightweight with a thickness of only 0.5 millimeter. The film will not discolour or structurally weaken over time.
ETFE is robust and unlikely to degrade from exposure to environmental pollution, UV light, harsh chemicals or extreme temperature variations.
Non-slip textured coating
These panels will also have a non-slip textured surface ideal for the marine environment. The textured surface offers an extra layer of protection and robustness.

ETFE is also commonly used in the nuclear, aviation and aerospace industries because of its mechanical toughness. In addition, ETFE exhibits a high-energy radiation resistance and can withstand high temperatures for a long period of time.
SunPower E20® series cells were developed in the US and capture significantly more sunlight and conduct more electrical current than other solar cells. Solar panels containing SunPower E20® series cells are the highest efficiency panel available on the market today, providing more power in the same amount of space. Efficiency refers to the percentage of sunlight hitting the panel that gets converted into electricity therefore a higher panel efficiency means that the panel can generate more power.

We receive many ‘proposals’ from manufacturers that offer ‘cheap’ panels but we do not wish to buy other ‘grades’ of panels from standard manufacturing runs that may have overlapping, damaged or inferior cells, sharp edges, unsealed junction boxes or silicone partially blocking cells near the junction box.
