DESCRIPTION
Victron Orion 24/12-70A Non-Isolated DC-DC Converter
Heavy-Duty 24V to 12V Power Conversion
The Victron Orion 24/12-70 is a high-capacity non-isolated DC-DC converter designed to seamlessly step down 24V power sources to a stable 12V output. Delivering a continuous output current of 70A and capable of handling maximum surges up to 85A, this unit provides exceptional reliability for demanding electrical systems. Whether you are outfitting a heavy-duty truck, a marine vessel, or an off-grid caravan setup, this 12V convertor ensures that your 12-volt accessories and critical systems receive clean, consistent power without voltage drops or fluctuations.
Beyond standard voltage step-down operations, this advanced unit can function as a highly effective 24V to 12V battery charger. By adjusting the output voltage, it is fully capable of buffer-charging a 12V starter or accessory battery integrated within a larger 24V framework. This dual functionality reduces the need for multiple discrete components, saving valuable installation space and reducing overall system complexity.
Precise Voltage Regulation and Thermal Management
Generic converters often struggle with voltage sag under heavy loads, risking damage to sensitive electronics. The Victron Orion overcomes this by acting as a precise 24V to 12V voltage regulator. It features an adjustable output range of 10V to 15V, allowing technicians to fine-tune the delivery voltage to precisely match the requirements of the connected load or battery chemistry.
To maintain peak performance during continuous high-current draws, the unit incorporates an intelligent, temperature-controlled, fan-assisted cooling system. This active thermal management prevents overheating and ensures the dc current converter operates at optimal efficiency, significantly extending the lifespan of the hardware in harsh environments.
Secure Connections and Remote Switching
High-amperage electrical pathways require robust connection points to prevent resistive heating. This unit features heavy-duty M6 terminals, functioning as a highly secure 12 volt binding post system for your input and output wiring. This design ensures optimal current transfer and mechanical stability, which is essential for mobile applications subject to persistent vibration.
Furthermore, the integrated remote on-off connector adds a crucial layer of safety and control. This feature allows the converter to be operated via a low-power remote switch or tied directly into the engine run/stop circuitry. By eliminating the need to route high-current cables to a physical switch on the dashboard, installation becomes safer, cleaner, and more cost-effective.
Scalable Power for Growing Demands
When system requirements exceed the capacity of a single unit, the Victron Orion 24/12-70 offers exceptional scalability. Up to five units can be wired in parallel to multiply the total output current. This modular approach allows your 24V dc dc power architecture to grow alongside your energy needs without replacing existing infrastructure.

WARRANTY
Victron Energy Limited Warranty Policy
Direct Customers
Victron Energy provides the following warranty to any direct customer (OEM, distributor or dealer) in relation to any products that Victron Energy has directly sold to the direct customer. This warranty is not an end-user warranty between Victron Energy and an end-user, and end-users shall not have any rights or remedies under this limited warranty towards Victron Energy directly. The direct customer shall, in turn, ensure that the end-user is provided with a warranty identical to this warranty, subject to applicable local mandatory law.
End-Users
Victron Energy may also provide a warranty directly to end-users, in which case the below warranty conditions equally apply to such warranty. In that case, end-users shall claim their warranty at their place of purchase or through the original direct customer of Victron, which can be found through the support section on Victron’s website https://www.victronenergy.com/support. Hence, the direct customer shall on behalf of Victron Energy deal with any warranty claims made under any warranty that Victron Energy may provide directly to end-users. This support section on Victron’s website https://www.victronenergy.com/support will provide further guidance on the procedure for end-users to make a claim under this limited warranty.
If the end-user is a consumer – a natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside that person's trade, business, craft or profession – the following applies. The rights and remedies granted to the consumer under this limited warranty are without prejudice to the consumer’s statutory rights. Furthermore, the consumer is entitled by law to remedies from the seller free of charge in the event of a lack of conformity of the goods (such as repair, replacement, price reduction or rescission), which remedies are not affected by this limited warranty.
