Inverter-charger or inverter?
- Inverter-chargers (MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro) also charge the batteries from a generator and pass generator power through to the loads. The Quattro has two AC inputs.
- All-in-one units (EasySolar-II, Multi RS Solar) add an MPPT solar charge controller. The EasySolar-II GX also has a built-in GX monitoring device.
- Inverters (Phoenix, Inverter RS) run AC loads from the battery without a charger. The Inverter RS Smart Solar adds a 450V MPPT.
Sizing
Size the inverter for the largest set of appliances that run at the same time, plus the starting surge of pumps, fridges and power tools. Many VE.Bus models can run in parallel, or as three-phase, for bigger loads.
