Blue Sea Contura SPST OFF-ON Switch, Black
Blue Sea Contura SPST OFF-ON Switch, Black
Ignition Protected (UL1500/ISO8846) - Salt Spray & Moisture Resistant

DESCRIPTION
Heavy-Duty Marine Rocker Switch for Water-Resistant Panels
The Blue Sea Systems Contura SPST OFF-ON Switch (BS-8282B) is a rugged, industrial-grade control solution engineered specifically for demanding marine, 4WD, and off-grid electrical environments. Designed for seamless integration into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) rocker switch provides reliable ON-OFF circuit management where exposure to the elements is unavoidable.
Standard automotive switches often fail quickly in coastal or off-road conditions due to internal contact corrosion from salt spray, moisture ingress, or mechanical fatigue from constant hull pounding and corrugated tracks. This authentic Contura switch solves those reliability issues through an integrated sealing gasket and robust internal components designed to withstand severe vibration, shock, and extreme temperature fluctuations (thermoshock).
Engineered for Safety in Hazardous Environments
When installing electrical components in marine vessels, especially petrol-powered boats, safety compliance is critical. The BS-8282B features a fully ignition-protected switch housing that meets strict UL1500 and ISO8846 standards. This crucial safety feature prevents internal electrical arcs from igniting surrounding flammable fumes in engine bays, bilge areas, or fuel locker proximity, significantly reducing the risk of onboard fires.
Ergonomic Design and Straightforward Installation
Built for confident operation in wet or rough conditions, the black rocker actuator features a durable textured surface for positive tactile grip. A clear horizontal indicator bar allows for quick visual status identification at a glance. On the rear of the housing, standard quick-connect blade terminals accommodate common spade connectors, ensuring a straightforward and secure wiring process for both new panel builds and direct replacement maintenance.
