Blue Sea 50A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Blue Sea 50A A-Series Single Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker - Black
Magnetic Hydraulic Operation, Trip-Free Design & ABYC Compliant

DESCRIPTION
Magnetic Hydraulic Circuit Protection and Switching
The Blue Sea A-Series 50A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker (BS-7228B) delivers industry-standard electrical protection and manual circuit control in a single, compact panel-mount device. Engineered specifically for demanding marine, caravan, 4WD, and off-grid power distribution systems, this breaker eliminates the need for separate switches and fuse holders, streamlining your switchboard layout and reducing connection points where voltage drop or failure can occur.
Why Choose Magnetic Hydraulic Technology?
Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on heat-sensitive bimetallic strips, the Blue Sea A-Series utilises a precision magnetic hydraulic mechanism. Thermal breakers are often susceptible to ambient temperature fluctuations, which can cause nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, canopies, or enclosed electrical cabinets. By contrast, a magnetic hydraulic circuit breaker responds purely to current flow through an electromagnetic coil combined with a fluid-damped delay core.
This advanced internal architecture ensures the 50A trip threshold remains stable regardless of surrounding environmental temperatures. It permits brief, harmless inrush currents typical of starting motors or inductive loads while reacting swiftly to genuine overcurrent and short-circuit faults.
Uncompromising Safety with Trip-Free Design
In high-energy DC and AC electrical systems, preventing sustained fault currents is critical to protecting wiring harnesses and connected appliances from thermal damage. This circuit breaker features a trip-free mechanism, meaning the internal contacts will open and remain disconnected during an overcurrent fault even if the external black toggle actuator is manually held or wedged in the ON position. Once the fault is cleared, the ergonomic toggle switch with high-contrast white 50A and OFF markings provides clear visual confirmation of circuit status and allows for immediate reset without the need to carry spare fuses.
Key Features and Benefits
- Dual-Function Design: Combines manual ON/OFF circuit switching with reliable 50A overcurrent protection in one unit.
- Temperature-Stable Operation: Magnetic hydraulic mechanism prevents nuisance tripping in high-temperature enclosures and marine engine rooms.
- Trip-Free Safety Mechanism: Internal contacts cannot be forced closed during an active fault condition, significantly reducing fire and equipment risks.
- Reinforced Mounting Hardware: Equipped with standardised top and bottom brass threaded inserts for secure, vibration-resistant installation in custom or pre-fabricated electrical panels.
- Global Compliance Standards: Meets strict ABYC marine standards, holds UL 1077 recognition, and carries TUV, CE, and CSA certifications for international engineering compliance.
Engineered for Marine, RV, and Off-Grid Panels
Constructed with corrosion-resistant materials and durable brass mounting inserts, the BS-7228B is built to withstand the harsh vibration and moisture typical of Australian coastal and outback touring conditions. It serves as the standard building block for Blue Sea Systems 360 Panel System layouts and custom laser-cut dashboards alike, suitable for protecting high-draw sub-circuits, windlasses, pumps, lighting arrays, and auxiliary battery feeds.
