Single-pole 100A circuit breaker with white toggle switch and rear terminal studs

Blue Sea 100A C-Series Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker

DESCRIPTION

Integrated Magnetic-Hydraulic Circuit Protection and Switching

The Blue Sea C-Series 100A Single-Pole Toggle Circuit Breaker combines manual circuit switching and reliable overcurrent protection into one compact, robust unit. Engineered for demanding electrical systems across marine, RV, caravan, and off-grid solar installations, this heavy-duty breaker eliminates the need for a separate switch and fuse block. By consolidating these components, it saves valuable panel space, reduces wiring complexity, and minimises potential failure points in high-amperage circuits.

Advanced Magnetic-Hydraulic Technology

Unlike standard thermal circuit breakers that rely on a heat-sensitive bimetallic strip, the C-Series utilises a precision magnetic-hydraulic trip mechanism. Standard thermal units can suffer from nuisance tripping in hot engine bays, battery enclosures, or sun-exposed distribution panels, and may fail to trip promptly in freezing conditions. A magnetic-hydraulic breaker operates via a solenoid coil and a fluid-damped mechanical delay, meaning its trip curve remains entirely unaffected by ambient temperature fluctuations. It delivers consistent, predictable overcurrent protection while accommodating brief, normal startup inrush currents from inverters, windlasses, and heavy DC loads without false tripping.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Dual-Function Design: Combines manual ON/OFF circuit switching with automatic overcurrent trip protection in a single device.
  • Temperature-Stable Operation: Magnetic-hydraulic actuation ensures accurate trip performance regardless of hot or cold ambient conditions.
  • Trip-Free Mechanism: Internal safety architecture prevents the breaker from being manually held in the ON position while an electrical fault or overload persists.
  • High-Current Rear Studs: Equipped with heavy-duty rear terminal studs designed to securely accept high-amperage ring terminals and large-gauge battery cables.
  • Flush Panel Mounting: Integrated threaded mounting inserts allow for a clean, secure installation into custom switch panels and power distribution boards.
  • Ergonomic White Toggle: Provides clear visual indication of circuit status and smooth manual actuation for main or branch circuit isolation.

Reducing Risk in High-Amperage Electrical Systems

Managing 100A loads requires components that prevent excessive voltage drop and thermal buildup. Inferior protection devices often feature undersized terminals or poorly calibrated mechanisms that introduce resistance, generate excess heat, or fail to isolate faults safely. The Blue Sea C-Series mitigates these risks through its robust internal contacts and solid rear stud terminals, ensuring a low-resistance connection for heavy cable lugs. Furthermore, the trip-free safety design protects your wiring harness and connected appliances by ensuring the circuit immediately opens during a short circuit or sustained overload, even if the white toggle actuator is physically obstructed.

Ideal Applications

This 100A single-pole breaker is widely used by marine electricians, auto electricians, and off-grid system builders for:

  • Main DC circuit protection and battery bank isolation in boats, yachts, and marine vessels
  • High-current sub-panel feeds in caravans, camper trailers, and motorhomes
  • Overcurrent protection for DC-DC chargers, small-to-medium inverters, and heavy-duty winches
  • 4WD dual battery systems and industrial mobile power setups

Upgrade Your Circuit Protection

Ensure safe, temperature-independent overcurrent management for your high-draw electrical circuits. Add the Blue Sea C-Series 100A Toggle Circuit Breaker to your distribution setup today for dependable switching and protection.
