DESCRIPTION

Hellermann Tyton 35mm² Copper Link: High-Conductivity Connection for 2 B&S/AWG Cables

Engineered for Low-Resistance, Reliable Power Links in Demanding Electrical Systems

The Hellermann Tyton 35mm² Copper Link is a precision-engineered compression copper link designed to create secure, low-resistance connections for 2 B&S (AWG) cables. Manufactured from 99.9% pure copper and tin-electroplated, this link ensures maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance, making it an essential component in 12V, 24V, and 48V DC systems up to 120V DC. Whether you're wiring a caravan battery bank, marine electrical system, or off-grid solar installation, this link delivers consistent performance under high current loads.

Unlike generic connectors that may suffer from poor conductivity or premature oxidation, the Hellermann Tyton link is annealed for ductility and tinned to withstand harsh environments. Its AS/NZS4325 Part 1 compliance guarantees adherence to strict Australian and New Zealand standards, reducing the risk of overheating and voltage drop in critical connections.

Key Features

  • 99.9% IACS conductivity for minimal power loss across the connection
  • Tin electroplating (5–10 microns) resists corrosion in marine and coastal settings
  • Annealed copper construction provides flexibility and crack resistance during crimping
  • Low oxygen content (30ppm max) prevents embrittlement and extends service life
  • Wide operating temperature range (-55°C to +155°C) suits engine bays and extreme climates
  • Bellmouth entry eases cable insertion and reduces strand damage
  • Supplied in packs of 50 for professional installers and bulk projects

Built for Australian Conditions

Electrical systems in Australia face unique challenges—from corrosive salt air along the coast to intense heat in outback installations. The Hellermann Tyton 35mm² Copper Link addresses these with a 5–10 micron tin plating that shields the copper from oxidation, while the annealed copper maintains its integrity under vibration and thermal cycling. With a ductile rating of 40%, this link withstands the mechanical stress of heavy-duty crimping without cracking, ensuring a gas-tight connection that resists moisture ingress.

For installers working with 2 B&S (35mm²) cable, the link's 8.4mm internal diameter and bellmouth profile simplify insertion of fine-stranded conductors, reducing installation time and the risk of stray strands. The 9.2mm hex profile allows for secure tightening with standard tools, while the compact 47.6mm length fits neatly into tight junction boxes and busbar arrangements.

Applications

  • Caravan and RV power systems: Link batteries, inverters, and DC-DC chargers with confidence
  • Marine electrical panels: Corrosion-resistant design ideal for boats and yachts
  • Solar installations: Connect charge controllers, battery banks, and combiner boxes
  • Automotive and 4WD setups: Handle high-current accessories like winches and auxiliary batteries
  • Industrial equipment: Reliable links for machinery, generators, and backup power

*Note typical de-rating factors apply; ensure cable and link ratings align with your system's maximum continuous current and environmental conditions.
