Featuring an ergonomic, textured black actuator and an integrated moisture-resistant sealing gasket, it provides dependable tactile control for critical onboard circuits. In the OFF-(ON) configuration, the Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) contacts remain open in the default position and close only while the actuator is actively depressed, returning automatically to the off state when released.

While standard automotive switches quickly succumb to corrosion, contact failure, and mechanical wear when exposed to the elements, the Contura series is purpose-built for marine vessels, 4WD canopies, and exposed industrial dashboards. It integrates directly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels via a secure snap-in housing, forming a resilient barrier against water ingress on open consoles and flybridges.

Why Choose Blue Sea Systems Contura Switches?

Selecting the correct switching hardware is vital for preventing electrical faults and ensuring operational safety in mobile and marine applications. Inferior hardware poses significant risks in damp or fuel-rich environments, whereas this Contura switch is engineered to mitigate electrical hazards and withstand relentless physical stress.

Certified Ignition Protection: Fully compliant with UL1500 and ISO8846 standards, this switch prevents internal electrical arcs from igniting external flammable vapours, making it safe for installation in or near petrol-powered boat engine compartments and bilge areas.

Extreme Environmental Durability: Rigorously tested to resist continuous vibration, mechanical shock, thermoshock, moisture, and corrosive salt spray, ensuring long-term reliability in Australian coastal and outback conditions.

Momentary OFF-(ON) Action: The spring-returned actuator prevents circuits from being accidentally left engaged, making it ideal for temporary activation tasks.

Ergonomic and Sealed Design: Features a textured black rocker surface for confident grip in wet conditions, paired with a dedicated perimeter gasket to seal the panel cutout against splashes and washdowns.

Streamlined Installation: Equipped with rear quick-connect spade terminals and a snap-in panel-mount body for straightforward wiring and secure seating in compatible water-resistant panels.

Ideal Applications for Momentary SPST Switching

Because the OFF-(ON) circuit is only active while held down, this switch is suited to applications requiring intermittent or manual-override control across 12V and 24V DC electrical systems:

Marine Horns and Signalling: Provides instant, responsive activation for marine horns or warning signals without the risk of continuous operation.

Bilge Pump Manual Override: Allows skippers to manually test or cycle bilge pumps directly from the helm panel.

Engine Starters and Pre-Heaters: Safe for triggering starter solenoids or glow plug relays on marine and auxiliary engines.

Windscreen Washers and Wipers: Delivers momentary bursts for washer pumps or single-wipe clearing on boats and heavy vehicles.

Upgrade Your Helm or Control Panel Today

Equip your vessel or off-grid vehicle with switching hardware designed to survive the elements.
