Purpose-built for integration into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, this grey rocker switch offers a straightforward OFF-ON switching function ideal for controlling lighting, bilge pumps, navigation electronics, and auxiliary accessories.

Unlike standard consumer-grade switches that quickly succumb to corrosion and mechanical failure in damp or high-vibration settings, the Contura series is specifically manufactured to withstand the rigours of life on the water and off the beaten track. Its ergonomic grey actuator provides positive tactile feedback, ensuring effortless operation even in wet conditions or rough seas.

Engineered to Withstand the Elements

Marine and 4WD environments subject electrical components to constant abuse. This marine rocker switch incorporates an internal weather-resistant gasket that forms a secure, moisture-resistant seal when mounted in compatible panels. It is rigorously tested to resist vibration, physical shock, thermoshock, moisture ingress, and corrosive salt spray, significantly reducing the risk of premature circuit failure or intermittent connectivity.

Certified Safety for Petrol-Powered Vessels

Safety is paramount when installing electrical distribution components near fuel sources. This Contura switch features a fully enclosed, ignition-protected housing that meets stringent UL1500 and ISO8846 ignition protection standards. This critical safety feature ensures that any internal electrical arc generated during switching is contained within the switch body, preventing the ignition of surrounding flammable vapours. It is specifically rated as safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats, as well as in compartments housing fuel tanks or battery banks.

Key Features and Benefits

SPST OFF-ON Operation: Simple and reliable single-pole, single-throw switching for dedicated control of individual DC circuits.

Certified Ignition Protection: Meets UL1500 and ISO8846 safety standards, making it safe for engine rooms and petrol-powered vessels.

Extreme Environmental Resistance: Built to endure constant vibration, shock, extreme temperature fluctuations (thermoshock), moisture, and salt spray.

Seamless Panel Integration: Designed with a flexible weather-resistant gasket to fit securely into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant Contura panels.

Fast, Reliable Wiring: Equipped with standard rear blade terminals for quick-connect installation and secure electrical termination.

Ergonomic Actuator: Durable grey Contura rocker design provides clear visual status and easy manual actuation.

Versatile Applications for Marine and Mobile Power

While originally designed for maritime vessels, the robust construction of the Blue Sea 8230B Contura Switch makes it equally suited for custom 4WD canopies, caravans, camper trailers, and industrial service vehicles.
