blue-sea-contura-dpst-off-on-momentary-panel-mount-switch-black
Blue Sea Contura DPST OFF-(ON) Momentary Panel-Mount Switch, Black

Heavy-Duty Momentary Switching for Harsh Marine and Off-Grid Environments

The Blue Sea Systems Contura Switch is engineered specifically to withstand the rigorous demands of marine, automotive, and off-grid electrical systems. Featuring a Double Pole Single Throw (DPST) configuration with a momentary OFF-(ON) action, this panel-mount rocker switch provides precise, reliable control for circuits that require temporary activation while simultaneously switching two separate conductors or independent loads.

Unlike standard commercial switches that quickly degrade when exposed to moisture or continuous vibration, the Contura series is purpose-built for longevity. It integrates seamlessly into Blue Sea Systems water-resistant panels, offering a secure, sealed barrier against the elements on open-cockpit vessels, 4WDs, and industrial equipment.

Uncompromised Safety with Certified Ignition Protection

Electrical components installed in marine engine bays or near fuel storage areas present significant hazards if not properly sealed. A primary advantage of this Contura rocker switch is its certified ignition protection. Fully compliant with rigorous UL1500 and ISO8846 standards, the internal switching mechanism is housed within a specialised body that prevents internal sparks from igniting surrounding flammable vapours.

This makes the BS-8288B completely safe for installation aboard petrol-powered boats, within bilge zones, or inside caravan gas and battery compartments where volatile gases may accumulate. By upgrading to a compliant marine-grade switch, you actively reduce the risk of catastrophic electrical fires and ensure your vessel or vehicle meets strict marine safety regulations.

Engineered for Extreme Environmental Resistance

Operating a switch in wet, choppy, or dusty conditions requires hardware that delivers both tactile certainty and structural resilience. The Contura series undergoes extensive testing to ensure reliable operation under extreme stress:

Ergonomic Textured Actuator: Designed with a tactile, textured black rocker surface that provides confident grip and positive feedback, even when operating with wet or gloved hands.

Integrated Water-Resistant Seal: Features an inbuilt perimeter gasket engineered to seal tightly against compatible water-resistant mounting panels, preventing water ingress behind the dash.

Total Environmental Resilience: Built to resist constant high-frequency vibration, heavy mechanical shock, extreme thermoshock (rapid temperature fluctuations), high humidity, and corrosive salt spray.

DPST Momentary Operation: The OFF-(ON) spring-return action ensures the circuit only remains active while actively pressed, returning automatically to the safe OFF position upon release.

Secure Blade Terminals: Equipped with heavy-duty rear blade-style connectors for straightforward, dependable wiring installation.

Versatile Applications for DPST Momentary Control

A Double Pole Single Throw momentary switch is a highly versatile component for complex 12V and 24V DC electrical layouts. Because it switches two poles simultaneously with a single actuator press, it eliminates the need for secondary relays in certain configurations or allows operators to engage two isolated systems at once.
